ARTISTIC STATEMENT:

My work engages interdisciplinarity collaboration, multimedia, improvisation, and relationships between genre, performer, and audience. I am interested in using notated composition, improvisation, conduction, and theatrics to reflect my observations on contemporary society and life, especially on reactionary movements towards the past, our place as artists in late-capitalist society, diasporic identity, and the fragmentation of a concept of commonly accepted “truth.”

My artistic practice encompasses notated composition, conducting, and conducted/free improvisation. Below, find recent works representative of my body of work. The “” symbol denotes that a score is available — please inquire via emailing me at hello@solomonkim.me.
